The Autumnal Equinox is at 10:49 am today here in Atlanta so it will be officially fall in just a couple of hours. We've already been having some great fall weather with highs in the mid 80's and nice cool nights...windows open! I have to be at work at 11:15 but I am scheduled to be in the garden and should get to spend a nice day outside...could be a lot worse.
I've actually gotten some fall work done in the garden and get some fall planting done. So far just spinach and kale but more to come.
Everybody enjoy your first day of fall and the beginning of soup season. I made my first fall soup the other day. A nice rich tomato and vegetable broth full of cannelini beans and fresh kale. Very nice. What's going to be your first soup of the season?

A white bean style casoulet made with fresh available vegies, chicken for duck confit, and kale, for which I have a passion. I also add dry Sherry for flavor. An Italian friend recently taught me how to prepare kale for stir fry----message the greens by hand with olive oil to tenderize them, thus not having to over cook them ---it works. Seeing that it's a seasonal change I recommend a movie for you (can get it at Netflicks) "Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter' It's a Buddhist film by a Korean director and absolutely beautiful. peace, M
Thanks for the kale tip ..I'll give it a try and thanks for the film suggestion. I'll check it out on netflix. A casoulet is a good idea. I have some Hutterite sooup beans from the garden that will probably make a nice sub for the traditional beans.
