President Obama wants Congress to quickly approve a jobs bill in the range of $100 billion, a top White House official said Sunday, reflecting the growing political anxiety among Democrats about stubbornly high unemployment in an election year. It's sure nice of the GOP to consider taking a look a jobs bill. I would recommend however, if you are a betting man or woman, that you consider putting all your money on no Republican voting for a jobs bill. It's politics as usual for them and they want the jobless rate to be 10% or higher and the economy in shambles as that is their ticket to regaining power. It doesn't matter how much pain the average American in suffering...the only thing is regaining power at all costs.
....Democrats hope to win Republican support for the measure by including tax cuts for small businesses, a GOP favorite. The tax credit is designed to encourage businesses to hire workers....Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on "Late Edition" that as long as the legislation creates jobs, "we're willing to take a look at it."
If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties - someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad; if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." - John F.
