Wally World Is A Bad, Bad Place

Those of you that have been visiting here for anytime know how I feel about Wal-Mart. I don't shop there and discourage anyone I know from shopping there. They are a bad, bad company. There is a post up at Crooks and Liars that gives a glimpse of how bad they actually are.

For those of you who say that you have to shop at Wally World to take advantage of the low prices you should really take a hard look at how much the "low prices" and accompanying low wages actually cost you in increased taxes. Just sayin'.

Yeah, yeah I work part time for Home Depot which in a lot of ways isn't much different from Wal-Mart in their personnel practices. I'm in the same boat as the 1.4 million Wal-Mart workers in that I need the job for health insurance what I don't have in common is that I don't need the job to eat or keep a roof over my head.

I last entered a Wally World well over 10 years ago, perhaps 15, to replace a hair trimmer, and AFAIC that was the last time in my life. It was shortly after that that Mall-Wart workers burned to death because they were locked in the store overnight. It was some time after that that WM started taking out life insurance policies on some of its older lowest-level employees... not for their or their families' benefit, oh no, but as a source of profit for WM. And it got worse from there. I know all big-box stores have problems, but WM is different... worse than all the rest. May the owners rot in hell!

I, unfortunately, can't say that I haven't been in a Wal-Mart in as long. Last year when trying to get things organized for Mom's funeral and needing supplies for the gathering after I was forced to go there as there was absolutely nothing else available. It hurt, and I apologized to the universe for it but I needed stuff for a buffet and Wally World was it.

Completeagreement with you and Steve on Wal*Mart. A decade ago I fought them tooth and nail over civil rights abuses. They are an evil and contemptible company by conscious design.
