Falling Down on the Fruit

Jill at La Vida Locavore has run the numbers on American fruit consumption and we aren't meeting the apple a day requirement by a bunch. I have at least 1 and usually two pieces of fruit a day(and if you count wine, even more). I've had a Kiwi and pear today plus my eight ounces of vegetable juice for breakfast. Yesterday an apple and a banana.

Are you eating your fruit everyday?

Our Favorite Fruits (in Cups per Capita per Day in 2006)
1. Apples: 0.23
2. Oranges: 0.20
3. Bananas: 0.08

7. Watermelon: 0.03
8. Honeydew: 0.03
9. Peaches: 0.03

That equals:
One cup apple every 4 days

One cup strawberries every 20 days
One cup pineapple, watermelon, honeydew, peaches, and pears per month

... and it includes fruit juice!!!
