If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties - someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad; if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." - John F. Kennedy

Tomato Eulogy
The tomatoes didn't make it. My gamble with Mother Nature was lost. I came home tonight and they were all shriveled and sad. I picked the green tomatoes still hanging on as they seem ok but the plants are now ready for the compost bin and their return to the cycle. Tonight it is supposed to be even colder and at 6pm it was already 38F so colder is a definite. I covered the radishes and the carrots to see if I could nurse those through. The peas are too big to cover so they are on their own. That is the story of gardening on the edge. You win some and you lose some. Funny coincidence is that in tonight's mail was a small book from Organic Gardening on extending your harvest.
